The Puccini Experience is an intimate journey into the Puccinian musical soul.
Maestro Riccardo Joshua Moretti, composer, tells the story of his recent experience in the starring role of the newly released film Puccini e la fanciulla by director, Paolo Benvenuti. Puccini and the girl was presented at the 65th International 2008-2009 Cinematographic Festival in Venice which was received with enormous success. The film Un giorno con Puccini, A day with Puccini, and the film, Puccini e la fanciulla, Puccini and the girl, were carefully interwoven, meeting and merging in a performance of music, dance, words and visualization, recalling the works and life of the great Maestro.
Already, history tells us that with the last operas by Giacomo Puccini, the life of the melodrama concludes itself. He himself left an extraordinary heritage to all the musicians who from that point on dedicated themselves, little by little, to a nascent expressive form, or rather, the cinematic soundtrack, especially with La fanciulla del West to Turandot. The musical language of Puccini enriches itself with a series of innovations, harmonics, as found in the Fanciulla del West, constant use of the pentatonic scale or of whole tones rhythmically arriving even to jazz citations.
In addition to The Puccini Experience film, Maestro Moretti will present his original compositions for Violin and Viola as well as Flute and Piano.
