Aldo Ciccolini defined Daniele Petralia as “one of the most interesting young Italian pianists” (Suonare news, May 2004). Daniele Petralia was born in 1973 in Catania, Italy. He received his degree with maximum honours from the Bellini Conservatory under the direction of Giuseppe Cultrera. He continued his music education at the “Sommer Akademie Mozarteum” of Salszburg and at the “S. Cecilia Academy” in Rome where he received his Masters in Piano Performance under the direction of Sergio Perticaroli, who defined him as being an “excellent artist with special musical interests.” He also attended Master Classes with Dominique Merlet, Boris Petroushanskj, Maria Curcio-Diamand, Husseyin Sermet, Aldo Ciccolini, Lazar Berman, receiving encouragements from Vladimir Ashkenazy.

Mr Petralia enjoys an active concert schedule worldwide. He has performed in ROME at the Marcello’s Theatre and Barberini Palace in MILAN, Settimane Musicali of Stresa and Lago Maggiore, SALERNO, CHIETI, ENNA, NOTO, International Music Festival, CATANIA (A.M.E.; Lyceum Club; Massimo Bellini Theatre, CORTONA, PARIS (Maison de RADIO-FRANCE; Conservatoire Italien de Paris; Association F.L.A.M.E., SALISBURY Seminar Schloss Leopoldskron; Wiener Saal, ATHENS Pallas-centre Theatre of the Symphony Orchestra of State; Pireas University; Romanos o’Melodos Conservatory, TRIKALA Aristotelio Odeio), THESSALONIKI, ARAD, CASABLANCA, RABAT, FES, NEW YORK Tenri Cultural Institute of Manhattan at the Guggenheim Museum, NAGOYA, to name a few. Mr Petralia has also made several recordings for Radio and Television for France - Musique in Paris.

His solo appearances with orchestra include: Sicilian Symphony Orchestra, Massimo Bellini Theatre Orchestra, Arad State Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra of the Settimane Musicali di Stresa Academy, among others, receiving raving reviews for his performances of Rachmaninov’s 2nd Piano Concerto and Mozart’s Kv. 503.

Mr. Petralia has won numerous international competitions such as the “Prix Saint-Vincent,” “Ibla Grand Prize,” “F.P.Neglia” of Enna, “V.Bellini” of Caltanissetta, the Monte Carlo Piano Master 2000, and at “Meknès” Morocco where he received the “Grand Prize of Princess Lalla Meriem.”

Recently he obtained the Carlo and Rodolfo Furcht Special Prize for the interpretation of the Prokofiev 7th Sonata. He is regularly invited to give Piano Master Classes in Italy and abroad at the Athens, X.O.N., Trikala, Aristotelio Conservatory, Paris, and several other European Conservatories of Music.

Mr. Petralia participates as a juror in National and International Piano Competitions. His recordings of the F. Busoni’s Preludes op.37 and Gino Tagliapietra’s Preludes (World Première Recording) for Phoenix Classics Label are highly acclaimed by the press. In 1999 the X.O.N. Associations of Athens conferred on him the title of Honorary Member. He is Professor of Piano at the “V. Bellini” Music Academy in Catania and Artistic Director of the “Mascalucia Auditorium S. Nicolò” Philharmonic Orchestra.
