Ignacio Ornes, began his studies with Venezuelan composer Nelly Mele-Lara and guitarist Enrique Quevedo. Later he enrolled in the National Conservatory, Juan José Landaeta, where he studied under the guidance of the famous Maestro Antonio Lauro and completed his studies in Solfege and Harmony.

In 1983, Mr. Ornes received a scholarship from the Venezuelan Government in order to continue his studies at the Boston Conservatory of Music obtaining the degree of Bachelor of Music in Guitar Performance, Cum Laude in 1987.Two years later, he received his Master of Arts in Music degree from the University of California at San Diego under Pepe and Celin Romero.

In 1997 Mr. Ornes received the diploma Konzertexamen, the highest degree conferred to concert players for their artistry, from the Hochschüle für Musik Köln in Germany, under the guidance of Professor Dieter Kreidler.

Since 1990, Mr. Ornes has held the post of the late Antonio Lauro at the conservatory which contributed to his early music development. In the same year, he was invited to participate as a Jury member for the Antonio Laura National Competition for Young Guitarists in his country.

As a concert artist, Ignacio Ornes has given numerous concerts and solo recitals on national and international tours, appearing with numerous major symphony orchestras in South America, Europe and the United States. In 2001, his recital at the A.N. Scriabin Concert Hall in Moscow brought much acclaim to this gifted guitarist. While there, he also gave a master class at the Gniesin Superior College of Music, affording him to combine his love for performance and teaching.

He has performed with various well known chamber and vocal ensembles, and has recorded for the National Radio and Television in Venezuela and other countries abroad. Presently, Mr. Ornes is preparing for concert tours throughout the Caribbean and Eastern Europe.
