Gianluca Luisi was already fascinated with the piano since he was 3 years of age. His parents, understanding his outstanding talent, contacted Maestro E. Verona, a former pupil of Henrich Nehause in Moscow. It was with Verona that Gianluca began studying piano.

Later, he continued his studies at the G Rossini Conservatory of Music in Pesaro where he obtained his diploma with honors. He continued his studies at the Academy of Music in Imola, Italy, where he received his Bachelor of Music Degree. While there he studied with Maestri Valentini, Petrushansky, Rattalino and Risalti. He participated in master classes with internationally known musicians such as Lazar Berman, Jorge Demus, Alexander Lonquich and several others. Luisi completed his post graduate studies in Rome where he received his Master Degree in Piano Performance under the direction of Maestro Sergio Perticaroli.

A winner of many National and International Piano Competitions, such as the “Citta` dell’Aquila” and the Mozart prize, the Jeunesse` Music Competition, International Music Tournament in Rome, the Bellini International Competition, the Casella International Competition and the J.S. Bach International Piano Competition in Saarbrucken, Germany, to name a few.

“…He produces music completely free, what else do you want" ? These are the words of a music critic from the Saarlandische Zeitung, bestowed on Luisi after he won first prize at the Bach International Piano Competition.

Mr. Luisi has given many solo performances in some of the great concert halls and important international music festivals in Germany, Italy, Austria, Malta, Japan, France, Luxemburg such as the Schleswig Holstein Music Festival, Hamburg, the Mendelssohn House, Leipzig, for Yamaha Europa, Nordestedt, the Bach Festival, Leipzig Meistersall, Berlin, New Concert Hall in Milan, the Tyrol Festival, Austria, the Konzert-Hall-Chuden Hall, Nagoja, Japan, the Rossini Festival and the New Auditorium of Milan, Italy, Music Festival Saar, Luxemburg, Bellini Theater, Catania and the San Carlo Symphony Orchestra in Naples, Max Reger Hall in Malta, just to name a few.

He has a very wide and interesting repertoire which includes the Complete Cycle of the Well Tempered Clavier of J.S. Bach, recently played by memory at the Conservatory of Bologna.

Mr. Luisi’s discography consists of 9 CD recordings with 4 of them featuring the complete edition of the Well Tempered Clavier of J.S. Bach. Several new recordings are in the works including the Onslow Sextet with the Ensemble Concertant Frankfurt for the Dabringhaus and Grimm Label.
