Duo de Salzburg was first applied in 1985. Since then the Duo have
given more than 1,000 refitals and concerts in most of the European
countries, North and South America and the Orient. Their presence in
prestigious international music festivals include the “Pablo Cassals”
at Vendrell, Ayamonte and Palma de Mallorca, Spain, “Semanas Musicales de
Frutillar”, Chile, “Noord Holland Festival”, Netherlands, Festival de
Wallonie and Flanders Festival, Belgium, “Luxemburg Musikhauptsstadt
Europas 1995”, festivals of Quito, Ecuador, Stellenbosch, South Africa,
Panama and Mexico City, Rome, Seoul and others, characterize a rich and
complex concert career.
Several TV and CD recordings together with a large number of radio
interviews as well as two documentary films, the most recent being,
A cello sings , reflects their intense concert activities.

Yvonne Timoianu |
Solo cellist Yvonne Timoianu, an Austrian artist of Rumanian extraction,
studied at the Music Academy of Bucharist and the Mozarteum of Salzburg receiving
her diploma with high honors in 1983. At the same time she was awarded the Prize
of Distinction from the Federal Ministry of the Arts and Research in Vienna.
Her most influential teachers were Seraphim Antropov, Stefan Popov and Mstislav
Rostropovich. Her concerts have taken her from Tokyo to Quinto, from Capetown to Mexico, from
Delhi to Santiago Chile, from Seoul to Panama.
Ms. Timoianu has received several international awards among them, the First
Prize at the International Cello Competition of Vina del Mar in Chile, the Gold
Medal and First Prize of the International String Competition of the University
of Pretoria in South Africa.
As a guest soloist in renowned festivals as well as intensive appearances as
soloist in chamber music concerts in most European countries, in the Americas,
South East Asia and the Orient, are the hallmarks of her musical career as a solo
artist.
Given her dedicated involvement in contemporary music, a number of works were
written for and first performed by her. Yvonne Timoianu has led master classes and
workshops in Austria, Belgium, India, Korea, Luxemburg, Spain and South Africa, to name a few.

Alexander Preda |
Pianist and collaborator, Alexander Preda, an Austrian of Romanian
extraction, studied at the Music Academy of Bucharest and the Mozarteum of Salzburg.
He is the winner of various national and international competitions, among others,
the piano contest “ Week of the Rumanian Music” in 1974, the Dinu Lipatti Prize and
the Geroge Enescu special bursary from the Academy of Bucharest. In 1976, Mr. Preda
won Fourth Prize in the J.S. Bach International Piano Competition in Leipzig and
within the same year, the Bronze Medal of the prestigious “Arthur Rubenstein Piano
Master Competition”, in Jerusalem.
